Hi, I'm Denis Ankrah, a freelance photographer/ videographer based in Winnipeg. I've always been fascinated by film and photography since I was a child. I tried acting and, while I enjoyed it, I felt there was an element missing. I didn't realize my true passion was to be the creative figure behind the camera until I was in my early twenties.

In 2012, I graduated from Red River College with a Digital AV Production certificate. I studied Journalism at The University of Winnipeg from 2007-2009. I have studied at The Winnipeg Film Group and Film Training Manitoba by taking a variety of courses offered over the years. While I was in school I had an inkling to create a documentary film. So, in order to fund my film I decided to film my friend's wedding after which I was hooked, and then ventured into the world of wedding cinematography/photography.

I think everyone has a mentor or someone who creates a profound moment in one's life. For me, it was a cinematographer by the name of Mark Irwin. He changed the way I view film, video, and pictures. As creatives, we use these mediums to capture light, time and space. Once captured, we manipulate light, time, and space to evoke emotion, tell a story, or simply reminisce. These are the fundamental principles of cinematography. These elements translate to my wedding cinematography style. Furthermore, with my photography style, I tend to lean towards more of a photojournalistic style, capturing candid moments, and sometimes a touch of serendipity.
